iPhone 13 Screen Replacement: Premium LCD vs Premium OLED vs Genuine Apple
Updated October 29, 2026
The iPhone 13 came from Apple with an OLED screen. When it breaks, you can replace it with a Premium LCD, a Premium OLED or a Genuine Apple screen. All three restore a working, responsive touchscreen; they differ in how the picture looks, how much battery the screen uses, and price.
Premium LCD and Premium OLED are high-quality non-Apple screens. Genuine Apple is a genuine Apple part, priced the same as Apple's own repair. This guide explains the difference in plain words so you can pick the one that fits you.

Side by side
| Premium LCD | Premium OLED | Genuine Apple | |
|---|---|---|---|

| Colors | Good, a little less vivid | Vivid, closest to the original | As from the factory |
| Battery use | The backlight is always on, so it uses more battery | Black areas use no power — closer to original battery life | Original |

| Price | Lower | Higher | Same as Apple's price |
Why the screen type matters
An LCD needs a light behind the whole panel. That light is why blacks never look fully black and why the screen uses more battery. An OLED screen has no backlight: every pixel makes its own light and switches off completely to show black.
Your iPhone 13 was designed for an OLED screen. A Premium OLED keeps the phone looking and lasting the way you are used to. An Premium LCD is a good, lower-cost repair if price matters most.
What you may notice after a non-Apple screen
With Premium LCD or Premium OLED, iOS on iPhone 13 shows a message in Settings that the display is not a genuine Apple part. The phone works normally; the message is informational.
True Tone (the feature that adjusts the screen to the room's light) depends on data stored on your original screen. Ask the store whether it can be restored for your phone.
How long it takes

Questions
Which screen should I choose for my iPhone 13?
If you want only Apple parts, choose Genuine Apple. If you plan to keep the phone and want it to look and last close to new for less, choose Premium OLED. If the lowest price matters most, Premium LCD is a good working repair.
Which option is an original Apple screen?
Genuine Apple is a genuine Apple part. Premium LCD and Premium OLED are high-quality aftermarket screens. You choose which one goes into your phone.
Will my touch screen and camera still work?
Yes. All three screens restore full touch. The cameras are separate parts and are not changed by a screen replacement.
